Go ahead and consider METT-TC. The mission set is what really decides the reports that will be needed

Having reports in your TACSOP is great....but, what is more important is how leaders use them. By that, I mean, how will they have access to them? I'd recommend you put them in the TACSOP, but remember that a guy in a firefight isn't interested in a book. He needs the format in an easy to use package. Go ahead and print the forms out, laminate them, and then put a hog-ring through them. This way, when they have to send a report, they can just pull it out, fill it in with an alcohol marker and call it up. Make it part of the TACSOP that all leaders carry the report booklet in a specific place and make it an inspection item. One thing I would note that company TACSOP should be nested in the Battalion TACSOP. I know that you are in ROTC but I would be cautious applying what you learn here and how you develop your own. The Company SOP should pertain to your mission set. What I would so is ask what reports does your command need. The basics are great but then again SOP shouldn't mirror doctrine. That is why it is there. It should list what Reports are there and what and when is needed. In ours I don't go into a lot of the content. For example, in my platoon I don't touch the battle drills. There is a FM for that. I don't see the point to have a SOP on that when there is doctrine already established. If you were altering it I would add the changes and how it would look like. But we all know what Battle Drill 1A is. If you don't you shouldn't be learning it from an TACSOP. You could learn how you do it if you add to the set protocol. But I wouldn't just copy and paste that. It is a waste of time and your TACSOP will be 100 page doctrine and 10 pages of what should really be in the TACSOP. Keep this up until the year is over and you'll be out of the woods without having actually completed the report.

If you continue to get hounded, advise your leadership that for you to complete the report what you need is the cadet leaders below you start producing 800 page CONOPs before conducting any training what so ever. And if they ever turn it in, be sure to mark some random stuff with a red pen and hand it back to them for a rewrite, all the while chewing them out for not meeting some random deadlines.

Yes this is 2015, and yes the cloud(s) exists, but for "training purposes" demand everything in hard copy. It will make them feel tough, and make you appear important.

So, pretty much you can totally play the whole project off and claim responsibility for establishing a "more efficient, integrated, and bottom up command and control structure that has potential for further integration of cyber warfare training (cause that is the new sexy) and real time C4ISR (what ever that means, probably a cadet Facebook page)"

This totally works, trust me I'm a Major.

Good luck! I have a feeling this has changed with the sweeping changes that have been made as a whole but the old CC TACSOP should still be out there. It was fairly complete as far as tasks, basically a Warrior Skills I booklet with ROTC specific wisdom nuggets inside.
