Conceal Carry off base in uniform

All, does your service have a reg that specifically approves or disapproves having a conceal carry weapon off base/post in uniform?

This is just an opinion, but I would think that the local (/state or federal) laws would trump any military regulations regarding concealed carry. The exceptions I can think of would be things like protective service details, CID agents, etc. Or, at least, the military regulations/policies would have to adhere to the state/federal laws. Wouldn't you think that, TSgt Joshua Copeland?

For the average joe, not authorized to carry a weapon as part of their job, it seems that the local laws would certainly apply.

I know in the Army wearing your uniform off-post (with the exception of driving to and from post) is very frowned upon (still happens all too often), and in the Marines it is forbidden to wear uniforms off post (again with the exception of driving to and from post). This kind of makes carrying off-post while in uniform an moot point.

Here is my take on this. We aren't trying to be LEO's, however, we are trying to protect ourselves, loved ones and anyone that tries to commit an act of terrorism on US soil. LEO's are first responders, meaning they are reacting to something that has or is being done. The personnel who have gone out of their way to enhance their knowledge and protective measures sign up for concealed carry courses, which they pay for out of pocket. We still always have the ability to protect the US people either foreign or domestic, however, enhancing their ability to carry whether on-post or not would be a major asset. This would also call for, IMO, a program or course to enable these military members to do so. Again, I am not taking away from LEO's, but if I am in the wrong place at the wrong time and there is something going down, I will report it, but if things escalate and I need to react further to defend myself or others I have that obligation. CCW or CCDW should be recognized in every state just like a drivers license, granted a military ID needs to accompany it if carrying on post. Just my opinion....
