NOW. Navy EOD is the elite of the EOD community, with much higher standards and much more specialty schooling. Depending on where you're stationed, that's going to be your biggest challenge -- you need a mentor in the community to get you in. Honestly I don't think there's much you can do. Everything you need to know at EOD school will be taught to you once you get there, there's not much you can prep for beforehand by yourself.

If you go, stay motivated no matter what! Don't be afraid to ask questions, the instructors will help you. It's not an easy school even without all the extra stuff the Navy guys have to go through, I give them lot of respect. School can be stressful, but it's also a lot of fun and the instructors are great. I'm glad I got the opportunity to go. You will have to conduct a PST, Spec OPS interview, Dive Physical, Recompression Chamber ride and necessary paperwork. Your PST scores have to be above and beyond the minimum standards. I came in with an EOD contract but throughout the pipeline there were very few fleet returnees. Around 13-15 prior rates per year. So you have to commit to a yearlong process before finding out if you've been selected. Once you've been selected you've got a roughly year and a half pipeline if you make it through before you can wear the badge.
