Cops shoot and kill unarmed white teen. Where is the outrage?

This happened a couple of weeks ago, and I hadn't even heard about it until I came across this article. So where is all the outrage, from people of any color, at something that was just as egregious as any of the more well-known incidents?

SN Greg Wright, Well, I'm sorry the kid was shot and killed, but it does show the cops aren't racially divided. They'll kill anyone if they fear their life is in danger.

Cops have a difficult job. It is stressful. They need better training and more realistic scenarios to sharpen their skills

SN Greg Wright There will not be outrage at every event and vehicles are a big threat to officers. The Officer being bludgeoned with a 7000 lbs vehicle is no joke. The facts of the story between the police and physical evidence are in dispute. So hard to tell what the truth is and that is why body cameras and other recording devices have become so important.

The outrage over this type of incident is ginned up by race-baiters to further their own agendas, and is unrelated to the facts of the incident. This is obvious by the lack of reaction to incidents like this one that don't fit the racial profile the race-baiters are looking for - black perp shot by white cop.

Based on what you posted SN Greg Wright and the responses "the jury" is still out on this case. I prefer to let the evidence be examined and let cool heads determine how to proceed.
There is way too much race-baiting in "the news" and editorials.
Every day scores if not hundreds of policemen and women, citizens and illegal aliens are killed and injured in this nation. Many are injured on purpose and some are injured accidentally.
It is interesting to me to watch particularly racially charged and more recently "homophobic" attacks on homosexuals of both genders [yes there are only 2 :-)] get elevated in the news cycles and see which ones make national news while many others equally tragic are ignored.

We seriously need to consider psychological reviews of all police officers. Yes it costs money, but something isn't right in our country. Maybe they're over worked and over stressed, but that doesn't give them a reason to shoot anyone just because. They need to go through training so they can defuse situations at the lowest level. They need counseling. Our country's police force as a whole needs revamping and improvement. Not every crime deserves the death penalty.

Please let me say.... almost everyone is armed, as in they have arms... legs... those are weapons... CARS are weapons.... I had a guy use a screwdriver on me.... almost shot him.... then had a 5150 dressed as a ninja (with swords)... I only hope someday we can see the totality of evidence and not judge on a 20 second video

Are you not outraged? Shouldn't your post be one of outrage and not a question about it? That's the reason right there. People on the side walks wondering why no one is taking to the streets. Ask your media networks? Huff Post ran with story since it happened. Do you think was a case of racial profiling, stereotyping...or down right brutality? I have not read any statements by the family...if they are not surprised or outraged, why? The news has not been ignoring this incident But it seems like a few recent articles have tried to put a "white lives don't matter" spin to this in an attempt to show bias based on the reactions of the other alleged acts of brutality on African Americans. Instead of allowing ourselves to be devided on this issue we should come together and express all lives matter and all citizens are protected under the constitution and when civil rights are violated perpetrators even police should be prosecuted.

"Victim" doing a drug deal tries to run down a police officer trying to effect an arrest. There is dash cam video and it is being held pending their investigation. I'm not throwing the BS flag yet. I have never gotten into a situation like this because I don't sell/buy illegal drugs, attempt to commit vehicular homicide against a peace officer, and therefore I never find myself in these situations. Again, I'll wait for the facts.

Better question: where's the article for your headline? The linked article I read, even with its obvious bias, is better headlined "Family working to concoct story after cop defends himself from suspicious criminal's murder attempt."
There's no attempt to deny the deceased was engaged in a criminal act. No one behind the wheel of a vehicle is actually unarmed. And I'm confused what skin complexion might have to do with any of it.

SN Greg Wright It appears that this wasn't a big sensationalize case because there wasn't mass murder and mayhem - that seems to be the ingredient for good news now days. Sorry, that was very rude of me, I apologize. I'm hoping that this will be investigated and if there is wrong doing then the appropriate action should be taken, no mater what the background, race, color, or nationality. If a police officer kills someone in cold bold or through involuntary manslaughter then they need to be held accountable no matter who the victim is. They need to be treated the same - very simple process.

Many of us are just hearing about the police shooting that claimed the life of 19-year-old Zachary Hammond on July 26.

The news lands with that familiar, convulsive ache that the death of young people brings. That a year of police-involved killings has given us.

The teenager, on a first date, was stopped in the parking lot of a Seneca, S.C., Hardee’s during a drug bust, and the officer contends he fired in self-defense as Hammond tried to run him over. His 23-year-old date was charged with possession of 10 grams (.35 ounces) of marijuana. And it feels like a life gone over so much nothing.

Yet Hammond’s killing, under cloudy circumstances — a police report never mentions the fatal gunshots — has not sparked national protests. It has not pricked us the way Sandra Bland, Eric Garner, Walter Scott, Tamir Rice, John Crawford, Brandon Jones, Eric Harris and Freddie Gray did. The way the killing of Samuel DuBose most recently and under the most similar circumstances did. (DuBose was also behind the wheel; the Cincinnati officer who shot him alleged that DuBose was dragging him as he was taking off.)

Hammond’s family contends that the unequal outrage is because Hammond is white.
