Could I get a medical extention for the duty station I'm already in, even if I'm on orders to go somewhere else?

I came down on orders a week ago for my next duty station. I recently had surgery on my jaw, but I'd like to get a medical extension to stay out here in order to continue my oral treatment until its complete. Is it possible if I put in an FSTE packet and get it approved, will it be enough justification to stay where I'm at?

It never hurts to try, but I would brace yourself for a denial.
Your best bet is to get your commander's endorsement on a memo to help grease the skids.

Talk to your PA, he has to clear you medically to PCS anyhow.

Talk to the BN PA, he has to clear you to PCS. If he feels that no harm will be done by PCSing andyour continued care can be taken care of there as well where you are at, be prepared to go. Never be afraid to ask, but don’t get bent out of shape if you don’t get the answer you want.

If they don’t have the same services at your new duty station then yes. If they do than probably not work out for you.

I did just that. I had orders to go be a Blackhawk OC at NTC. On the recommendation of the doctor the BN CDR signed a letter to request a three month extension (from 31 Dec report date to 1 April ). The extension was granted but the branch manager got so mad that he stopped my flight pay, he called me the day before Christmas and bitched me out so I told him to go screw himself and that he could expect my resignation the next week. I gave him the required six months that he insisted the regulation required. Five months later he is calling me to stay in because I was picked up for promotion. I told him to go screw himself ( in not so nice words) again. So I got promoted and left seven days later to a full time AGR job. So be careful what you ask for and what your willing to do.

It's highly unlikely (but still possible) because your already have orders which means somebody else is on his way in as far as the Army rotates personnel.. I tried to get an extension after I got my orders because I had court but the only thing I got was getting my DEROS moved but not my RD
