Could I use my GTC to check into a hotel room while I’m in processing?

I report to fort hood tomorrow and I’m bringing my wife out house isn’t going to be ready until august 3rd could I use my GTC to check into a hotel room while I’m in processing?

I wouldn't unless you get it approved first. Normally they set you up in A hotel on base. The first night you may have to pay for one but you will get reimbursed for it.

If you have orders, go to the hotel on post. (The Holiday Inn)

You have 10 days of displaced lodging allowance to use when pcsing. It can be used on either side of the move but only 10 days total. The hotel must be within 50 miles of bases. Use your gtc, turn reciepts into finance when you inprocess to be reimbursed.

Simple answer is yes. You just have to make sure to turn in the receipt of your hotel when you in-process. MSG Private RallyPoint Member & SGT Christopher Hayden have right idea.

You normally should be able to use your card up until you start in processing. So if you get in fort hood late at night you use the card to get a hotel. If you also get 10 days to find a house off post you can use the card for the 10 days for a hotel and food.

You're actually required to use your GTC since it is a PCS expense. It doesn't have to be the on post hotel but DFAS will only refund you the government rate for your hotel. Make sure you ask for the government rate and go stay at a nice Hilton or Marriott. You are entitled to 10 days of TLE to cover your lodging CONUS PCS.

I'm just surprised the out house isn't going to be ready until august 3rd. I am even more surprised people still have out houses.
