CPT transferring from AMEDD: Logistics or Civil Affairs or something else? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/cpt-transferring-from-amedd-logistics-or-civil-affairs-or-soemthing-else

Senior CPT Clinical AOC looking for a change of pace (ROTC grad). My AOC is understrength but the promotions are less than ideal for AMEDD right now. I am considering 38A or 90A which both have numerous openings in the USAR. 38A probably makes more sense given my medical skillset, but Army logistics has always interested me. My questions are:

1. Is the learning curve too steep for an AMEDD officer jumping into reserve LG?
2. Am I hurting myself promotion-wise? I am up for MAJ next year but can delay the board since I am in a doctorate program per a recent MILPER message. As I said AMEDD promotions are low, sub 10% for my branch
3. Thoughts on CA vs LG? I would like to have future mob and training/school opportunities when I finish my doctorate.
4. Any other branches you would recommend? The LG feeders and CM are the easiest to transfer to right now. These branches are pretty different when it comes to mission and workload. It really depends on what you want to do. Nothing in the Army is super complicated, I'm sure your doctorate is more complicated than a branch transfer school.
Both branches will have MOB oportunities. You can do your research now and search through https://mobcop.aoc.army.pentagon.mil to see vacancies that are listed. They vary by year, but will give you an idea of what is in demand.

MAJ Private RallyPoint Member Tue, 10 Jan 2023 09:35:43 -0500 2023-01-10T09:35:43-05:00 Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 10 at 2023 4:50 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/cpt-transferring-from-amedd-logistics-or-civil-affairs-or-soemthing-else?n=8075579&urlhash=8075579

Sir, is AMEDD willing to release you? That'll be the first hurdle. If proponent allows you to move on, I'd suggest LG because it's a vast field and offers a lot of professional development and opportunity.

Reach out to a CMO (Career Management Officer) using the following link: https://www.usar.army.mil/ARCG/ARCG-CMO/

ARCG-CMO

MSG Private RallyPoint Member Tue, 10 Jan 2023 16:50:44 -0500 2023-01-10T16:50:44-05:00 Response by CPT Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 12 at 2023 12:29 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/cpt-transferring-from-amedd-logistics-or-civil-affairs-or-soemthing-else?n=8078976&urlhash=8078976

I'm in the process of reclassing from AMEDD. They've got a lot of slots for medical personnel. It's a two star command headquarted at Bragg. Got units all over the US.
