Two inspectors general have asked the Justice Department to open a criminal investigation into whether sensitive government information was mishandled in connection with the personal email account Hillary Rodham Clinton used as secretary of state, senior government officials said Thursday.

The request follows an assessment in a June 29 memo by the inspectors general for the State Department and the intelligence agencies that Mrs. Clinton’s private account contained “hundreds of potentially classified emails.” The memo was written to Patrick F. Kennedy, the under secretary of state for management.

It is not clear if any of the information in the emails was marked as classified by the State Department when Mrs. Clinton sent or received them.

But since her use of a private email account for official State Department business was revealed in March, she has repeatedly said that she had no classified information on the account.

I agree that it needs to be investigated; however my gut feeling tell me that it too will be swept under the radar as are most democratic blunders and fubars one would think require criminal penalties as high as high treason and failure to run the government constitutionally ... basically no one is culpable for anything except military personnel.

GySgt Wayne A. Ekblad I think is a much different situation than what her husband the former President went through when he tried to cover up his affair in the White House. He finally came out and somewhat admitted his wrong doing and somewhat admitted he lied to the nation and the American people. I don't think Hillary can pull the same magic act on this one. If she broke the law then she should face the consequences, but do we really know the extent of her power (financially and within the government)? She has avoided criminal charges so far and dodged the issues surrounding her involvement or lack of in Benghazi! This is tough call. I guess we will have to wait and see. This could be enough damage to derail her second attempt at the Presidency though.

GySgt Wayne A. Ekblad - I certainly hope that the new Attorney General, Loretta Lynch, proves that she is not just Eric Holder in a skirt, and looks beyond the political implications and does her job in investigating and prosecuting criminal actions. Having said that, you can bet the Obama Administration will be in overdrive in an effort to derail this and, if the investigation proceeds, the results will be delayed until it makes no difference in the election. The Hillary sheeple will not care, regardless...

I'm hoping that this investigation negatively effects her presidential campaign. If this gets swept under the rug, okay, but as long as enough noise is made to alert the general public of her lack of prudence and integrity.

Not to go off in a tangent, but I can't stand the idea of her as POTUS....

Just watch, it won't go far. I am sure the DOJ will sweep this under the rug like they have done to other items of extreme interest in the past couple of years. You and I both know that she is as guilty as sin but somehow this woman has at least 10 lives.

U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said on Saturday that she did not use a private email account to send or receive classified information while she was secretary of state, in response to a government inspector's letter this week.

"I did not send nor receive anything that was classified at the time," Clinton said at a campaign stop in Iowa.

The email controversy has dogged Clinton's bid for the presidency, fuelling worries that the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination has tried to sidestep transparency and record-keeping laws.

It is great that the congressional committees bring out what appears to be the truth about various topics that are in the news. But NOBODY ever gets fired or goes to jail. They spend millions of dollars to get the information but have no power to punish the wrong doers. Sad!

Sadly nothing will come of it because I would be willing to bet that there are more politicians who would be exposed in any investigation.
