Seriously, I don't know much about him....is SMA Chandler retiring? The article said that CSM Dailey is succeeding him, so that was my assumption.

He came to DLI and talked to us during an NCODP. Seemed to be a straight shooter which I appreciated. We'll see how he does as the SMA and all the politics involved in that position.

I think he actually served as a CSM in a tactical unit beyond the BN level. That's an improvement. Coming out of TRADOC as the CSM is another improvement. He knows the Army and where it's headed. This is a good choice.

I was starting to think SMA Chandler would die in that position he has been in it so long.

Okay so I was confusing SMA Preston and SMA Chandler. SMA Preston was SMA for almost 8 years.

I sure never thought SMA Preston would ever step down! It looks like SMA Chandler's time has come and gone. I wish SMA Dailey the best of luck.

He is infantry and has a Ranger Tab. He will be an improvement for the fighting force. I have a feeling he will be focusing on the real issues and not color of your laces of your PT shoes when you are off duty.

Outstanding! I have served under CSM Dailey when he was my BN CSM in 1-8 INF, 3/4ID, then my BDE CSM for 3/4ID, then he was my Division CSM of 4ID. I was at Fort Carson under 4ID for about 7 years and I believe he was there even longer than I was with both of us serving multiple deployments. I PCS'd to Fort Lee for a TRADOC job and he moved there to become the TRADOC CSM. I think most Soldiers would admit that his presence was felt all across Carson, especially once he made it to Division. I remember him and the commander would run around during PT stopping cars and asking why people weren't doing PT. Every time I had a minute of one on one time with this CSM he always showed that he cared about troops, our wellbeing and the wellness of the unit. He enforced standards and led the charge in everything he did. I am proud to say that the Army made an excellent choice for the next representative of enlisted men and women! CSM Dailey, good luck in the political arena!

I hope he brings the Army back to where it once was. It seems that NCOs of today have their hands tied behind their back with this regulatory mumbo jumbo. Granted some of it is for good reason but the rest is a bit much. Most of the Soldiers coming out of IET are straight up undisciplined. Maybe we can get some hope restored to the Corps.
