It doesn't matter. Just so whatever you wear is in your records and worn correctly.

Chest candy is nice, but what really matters are what your NCOERs say. You can have all the chest candy in the world, but if your NCOERs say you're a slug, you're not going to get picked up.
Now I do get that at E-8 level you are trying to differentiate yourself from your peers, and every little bit helps. But if DA NCO boards are run anything like DA officer boards, the picture is nice, but it's really only there so they can see if you know how to wear your uniform properly, you're not fat and present a "soldierly" appearance. Your ERB already spells out everything that you have been awarded.

Having sat on a DA selection board, neither has any weight for promotion. As far as DA photo goes, whichever as long as it's worn correctly is appropriate.

The schützenschnur if board directions allowed for it. I know both it and foreign jump wings well.. While both are largely right unit/place/time kind of deal... the schützenschnur is more work (though less guts.. I did not like jumping with the Canadians, much less another nations jumpers I shall not mention.. who have GREAT soldiers, but spineless State level and upper commanders, and down right scary Jump process) )

The Shutzenschnur is what I'd go with. The cord and badge look sharp.
Make sure it is hung correctly, though.
