Always remember this.....no matter where you ever PCS to, you will always report to replacement/reception. You will NEVER PCS to a new duty station location and report directly to your unit. JBLM has to receive you first before your gaining unit does (if that makes sense). You can go from sea level to 14,400 feet in 30 minutes. Fishing and hunting is some of the best in the Northwestern part of the US. If you are a PT addict there are opportunities to run, climb, ski (water and snow). Check in at the replacement center. As mentioned it takes about a week to process you to your unit. A long long time who it was pretty boring. Early morning formation. People shipping were called out everyone else cleaned the barracks. But once you start processing it goes very quickly. Enjoy the duty station. I served 3 tours at Lewis and loved every one of them. 1SG Frank Boynton Mon, 18 Mar 2019 11:34:19 -0400 2019-03-18T11:34:19-04:00 Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 18 at 2019 9:28 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/currently-ait-leaving-for-my-first-duty-station-next-week-to-jblm-what-should-i-expect-when-i-get-there-in-processing-post-etc?n=4461665&urlhash=4461665 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>As stated above, JBLM is beautiful. The Scenery is amazing, on a nice day Mt. Rainer looks over JBLM. I’ve been stationed there since 2016 and loved everyday of it. There is always something to do off post, all you have to do is look. I make monthly trips to Rainer (Not now, currently at Camp Hump). It rains a lot or is over cast but don’t let that ruin your day. Just cause it’s raining doesn’t mean then fun stops. JBLM was my first duty station as well I was there from Jun 2014- Nov 2018 definitely miss all the places to go up there. Just be prepared for working in the rain 9 months out of the year and have 3 months of summer. But as some of the other posts said it is a real beautiful area. Also a word of advise make copies of all your paperwork and never give originals SPC Private RallyPoint Member Sat, 23 Mar 2019 13:58:01 -0400 2019-03-23T13:58:01-04:00 Response by WO1 Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 25 at 2019 8:07 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/currently-ait-leaving-for-my-first-duty-station-next-week-to-jblm-what-should-i-expect-when-i-get-there-in-processing-post-etc?n=4579880&urlhash=4579880 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Airfield runs!
