Customer service base jobs are to serve the customer and not the rank. I constantly have to go handle matters because I have the rank the customer doesn't have to get little things done. I don't mind but it's terrible.

Yes, just last week I asked my Operation clerk who's rank is a Specialist for the control number for my leave form. The call was made to S1 and was informed they were not tracking any leave. So no service was given. Later I had business at the Batallion, so I stopped by S1 to see what was the issue and the addressed me by my rank and gave me a control number. No questions asked. I am not sure if the person I had helping me was the same person on the phone, but that help should extend out to everyone who needs help.

Goes back to that thing we call the Creed of the Non Commissioned Officer SFC Seaton.....I know my Soldiers and will always place their needs above my own.

There is a way around having to do this yourself, it is something we are all required to do and that is to develop our subordinates so that they have the institutional knowledge to take care of their subordinates but also that they can take our place.
