DA form 2-1

After having spent the past 4 and a half years on active duty as a 42A I have been surprised by how much is different on the Reserve side of the house as an S-1 function. DA forms 2-1 and 2A are still in use in the Reserve component and the human resource systems we use, such as RLAS, are different as well. USR is done quarterly instead of monthly, Retention Control Points do not exist and promotions from E-1 to E-4 are not the same as the Active side. This has been a great opportunity to continue leaning the craft and gain new experience in the Army, albeit it is quite different from what I am used to.

Are there other 42A's here that have experienced this and what are your thoughts in aiding in this transition? Hopefully the pending IPPS-A deployment will improve across the board some of what we do everyday, so long as it does not go the way of DIMHRS.
Be advised that while RCP does not affect TPU soldiers, MYOS (see AR 140-10 7-2) will likely become relevant in the near future.

I have no other advice.
