Designation of caregiver status?

Can the husband be designated as the primary caregiver of a child? I’m asking because my unit is basically trying to tell me that I have to be the secondary caregiver but the regulations aren’t very clear as to what the qualification factors are.

And these...as another idea, you could always ask the chaplain staff to ask for you, clerics are generally pretty handy about getting specific answers such social-work types of questions, I've observed...purely a suggestion, obv, of course....

Yeah...if you are a single parent or your wife is deployable. Don't play games with your command especially with unit readiness or deployment. Iran is looming.

There has to be unusual circumstances to qualify as the primary care giver, ie, death of the birth mother, sole custody. Paperwork would have to be filed as well. If this is not the case your unit more than likely is correct. The mother being a civilian doesn’t qualify you as a primary care giver.
