Yesterday I attended a service for a deceased veteran Aircraft Electrician Brent Michael Combs who served at Jacksonville. His mom said he was stationed at Jacksonville and I expect it must have been Jacksonville, Naval Air Station since he was an aircraft electrician. The US Navy presented a properly folded flag to his mom and their thanks for his service to this nation.
She lost track of Brent's friend Aircraft Electrician Weir and is hoping to reestablish contact with any of her son's US Navy friends.

I knew Brent Combs because he rented the bottom floor of a house owned by one of my sons. The last time I saw him alive he saluted me.

I have never heard of an AE4 -- maybe an AEAN? An AE3 would be a PO3.

PO1 Tony Holland - That's what the grieving mom remembers. I asked if her son was an NCO and she said no. I mentioned PO1, PO2, and PO3 but she mentioned that his friend was an AE4 just like her son. I expect it might mean an Aircraft Electrician 4th class which would be just below a PO3 ...

I could not find any such enlisted rank/rate at navy.mil --- in my day an enlisted below the level of PO3 was a SN/FN/AN depending on branch. BTW I hope your recovery is proceeding apace.

PO1 Tony Holland and CPO (Join to see) - Thanks for shedding light on my question and correcting my assumptions.
I modified the question based on your comments to focus on aircraft electricians at Naval Air Station Jacksonville and surrounding area including Naval Air Station Mayport.
