I think he will tax the money going south through Western Union SSgt. The last eight years is a great example of a failure of a Commander in Chief. He placed men in women's restrooms and brought war to the ME, causing the destruction of Europe and the death of thousands of innocents. Is the debt 20 trillion yet? What about the unsecured debt? Well, I have met Clinton when she was Secretary of State and I met Trump in my younger years. I found Trump to be a very genuine person. Sure, he lacks a brain to mouth filter at times but he is not a politician. I am pretty sure that was one of the major reasons he was elected. He isn't a stupid person either, and his presidency hasn't even started.

Do I think we will have a physical Berlin Wall along our border with Mexico? Absolutely not, but I do expect him to make much needed immigration reforms and place a priority on making laws and taking action to remove illegal aliens from our country.

I get it, we are a nation of immigrants. I am a first generation American myself and my father was deported because he was an illegal. However, there is a right way and a wrong way to come into this country. There are economic ramifications for allowing illegals to stay in this country that will negatively impact us as a whole (illegals pay way less taxes on their income than a legal immigrant and a lot of their income is sent outside of the US insted of being spent in the US and stimulating the local economy).

So ya, I'll take a risk over a non-politician because I don't believe in the values, ethics, and sub-par performance of the professional politician Trump beat in the elections.

A wall can take many forms. Actual ENFORCEMENT of existing immigration laws to stem the tide of ILLEGAL ALIENS would constitute a wall. So pejorative and vitriolic comments aside regarding the President Elect - it is a safe bet that he will not acquiesce to the porous border that Obama acquiesced to. He will increase patrol presence and start to stem the flow. Regarding payment - siezed drugs and assets from Mexican Cartels will be used to defer costs. Yep, he'll secure the border by building a wall were appropriate and sensors where it isn't. He'll work with congress to transfer a portion of import tariffs, in order to pay for it over time. I'm an engineer, and this is very basic construction. Contractors do this work all the time along interstates. Put 20 contractors in 20 section runs, and you will be stunned at how fast it goes up.

Here's how you pay for it.

1)Take the cost of detaining and deporting one illegal alien, then multiply it by ten. Deduct that money from the foreign aid package of the country the illegal alien came from AND do the same for the country whose border with us that he/she crossed. Do that for every illegal alien. I do not know the actual cost per illegal alien, but I am a Marine so let's use easy numbers.

Example: 1 illegal alien from El Salvador crosses the Mexican border with the US. The associated costs with detaining and deporting are $10,000. $100,000 from El Salvador's foreign aid package. $100,000 from Mexico's foreign aid package. $200,000 for the wall.

2)Then fine every employer who hires an illegal alien five times the illegal aliens annualized wages and cost of benefits or three times the poverty level income for the illegal aliens household. Plus 1 year in prison for the employer, for each illegal employee, to be served consecutively.

Example: Bruce Springsteen hires three illegal aliens. 1 Gardener (Jamaican), 1 maid (Haitian), and 1 chauffer (Chilean). The total compensation package including cost of benefits is $40,000 per employee. Three employees X $40,000ea X 5. Mr. Springsteen pays $600,000 fine and spends three years in prison. The Jamaican and Haitian came here legally but over stayed their visas $100,000 from Jamaica and Haiti each. The Chilean crossed the border illegally from Canada. $100,000 from Chile's foreign aid package, $100,000 from Canada's foreign aid package (can't collect if they don't get any aid, but they do) Total $1,00,000 for the wall.

Illegal Aliens find it impossible to earn a living in the US and self deport.

He has used the Executive actions more than any other President to accomplish his objectives. I recall not too long ago, Mr. Bush promised a fence between the Mexico-US border. What happened? What caused the construction to stop? That's right, environmental regulations to name one of the several law suits that prevented the construction. This is about the lack of knowledge of the citizens who voted for Trump believing his exaggerated promises. It is clear that Mr. Trump does know how to please the crowds to get his way, but I am not sure if he is aware that there are several obstacles to building his great wall. Wild life, environmental laws, clean water act, Native American Nations territories, etc. I understand many here believe Trump is equal to the all mighty and will build the wall, and Mexico will pay for it. The reality, it probably there will be no wall, just more hot air coming out Trump's mouth.

One of the factors that I liked about Trump and drew me to pull for him early on in his presidential campaign was the he was not a politician. It was time for new blood for this nation and a person who isn't in someone's pocket, or that can be "bought", and someone who is not afraid to be politically incorrect or "tell it like it is". This is the problem with only listening to “sound bites” and reading, exclusively, from liberal sites. Trump did say he’d make Mexico pay for it. However, when pressed on details, I remember him talking about the “unfair” trade deficit between the U.S. and Mexico. He said that by “adjusting” this deficit, Mexico would “pay” for the wall. We all know that he makes ridiculous statements that a more seasoned politician wouldn’t make. I would rather see his team renegotiate the trade deals, first. But to get “the wall” started, it will have to come from our coffers. We will have to wait and see if his promises are more effective than promises like closing Gitmo.

I certainly do expect him to build a wall and man it with our military. We will call it the Great Wall of Chino on the California west end and the Yellow Wall of Texas on the east end. If I was the president I would ask both union and non-union construction workers to start immediately. There would be additional incentives for work completed ahead of schedule and for once we'd have a defensible barrier to foreign incursion. This barrier would be easily managed and those individuals coming into our country would be vetted by the Ground Component of our TSA. Anyone who fly's a great deal and see's the long lines at the TSA checkpoint in an airport and understands the huge delay in air travel would understand foreign immigrants reluctance to enter our country through a TSA checkpoint on the ground. This could result in much lower immigration levels across this border.

I think everyone assumes that if you didn't like President Obama you should love Trump. I reluctantly voted for him as the alternative was too horrible to contemplate. However, that does not mean I think he is the greatest thing since sliced bread. He is a posturing blowhard who changes positions on a dime to suit himself and doesn't seem terrible concerned with facts. We will see how things work out and I am hoping a Republican House and Senate can keep him from going off the tracks on a regular basis. The one thing I think we will come away with it to put to bed the idea that politics and the Presidency is anything like running a private sector business.

In the not so distant past, most industrialized nations protected their borders with walls, fences, minefields, and armed troops. There is absolutely nothing wrong with maintaining your borders using force. This whole borderless world idea is a farce. Look what is happening in Europe. The mass invasion of Islamic soldiers (and they are) is quickly erasing the ethnic composition, traditions, and history of many European nations. Britain will not be the Britain we know within 5 or 10 years; it will be a province of the Muslim Caliphate. They are outbreeding the westerners and have already infiltrated the government in order to make political and legal conditions more favorable to Muslims. France is also teetering on the brink, but has recently realized what is happening and is at least making an effort to retain their national heritage.

A wall may not be THE answer, but stricter policies backed up by effective enforcement of those policies IS the answer. I think Trump will do that.

SSgt Dan Montague it's possible you are making the same mistake the media did during the campaign, i.e. taking Trump literally, but not seriously. The media and the Left hears, "Build a wall", and they take it literally, but not seriously. Working people, those who are concerned about terrorism, and the Right hear, "Build a wall", and take it seriously, but not literally, i.e. they are hearing, "There is a problem and we need to get seriously focused on doing something about it."

In my view what, "Build a wall", could means is:
1) ID cards for those crossing the border.
2) A guest worker program for those with IDs. (Because you don't need to be a citizen to work here, nor do you need to be citizen to get paid a fair wage.)
3) If you don't have a guest worker ID, you are deported immediately.
4) If you violate the law, we take up your ID and deport you.

Among other things, such a system would increase respect for our laws, since one assumes those who want to work here would understand that you lose the right to do so if you can't obey the law. Also if a guest worker program reduces the number of people crossing illegally, it makes it easier to spot terrorist and smugglers that they hide in.

The wall I would build would be made of drones and towers, and if you are caught, we fingerprint you and you NEVER will get a guest worker ID. Again, if there is a way to work legally and the consequences of illegal entry are sufficient, people will figure out which is in their interest.

Dan,

Every politician makes promises when they are running for President or for that matter any government office. Even Obama, Hillary, the Bush family, all of them claimed they would build a wall. Do some research. However, Obama made more promises than anyone, and he did not fulfill any of them The only thing Obama did and Hillary would have been more of the same is bring in Muslims and illegals. Obama also divided this great country and set up back over 100 years with racism, politics, our school system, welfare, food stamps, Americans losing jobs, etc. Obama also raised our debt to almost 20 trillion dollars? What good did he or the moron democrats do for this country?
Give Trump a chance and I think America will be a better place.

Personally I think the "Wall" is diversion and misdirection tactic (and Trump has shown he can play that game about as well as any general). And as to supposedly having "no idea how politics works", I think he really does and that is part why the political machines don't like him... They are all running scared about now. AND his LACK of political entanglements is precisely why I voted FOR him. And as to "wasted taxpayer's money", obviously you have been asleep for the past 50 years or so through BOTH parties! You have the right to your opinions and I have the right to speak my mind as well... so, have a happy day, it is better that way!

The only way we don't see some form of wall/fencing combination along the entire Southern Border (along with thousands of new Border Patrol Agents and detainment Facilities) getting accomplished is if someone who will be a Democrat, Liberal or Illegal Alien's Rights Activist goes judge shopping in the 9th District and gets a stay on any Executive Order pertaining to building the wall. All this crying and whining further galvanizes the right and enforces the fact that they made the right decision in electing Pres. Trump.

President Trump isn't your "normal" politician who makes a load of promises that are never kept. I expect him to build the wall, enforce the border, deport criminal illegal aliens, rebuild the military, lower corporate and personal tax, and repeal the ACA. These are big things and I think he is better qualified and equipped to do any or all of them than any previous President. He came to office with few fetters attached to special interest groups and large contributors. He has a business mindset that is likely to upset a lot of establishment Washingon, but will get a lot done in as short a time as possible. By not being a traditional politician he isn't held back by preconceived notions of what he can and cannot do. Additionally, because the press didn't make him, they cannot destroy him.

I consider un-kept promises--you can keep your plan, you can keep your doctor, cost of health insurance will decrease $2,500 per family--much more outrageous than those Pres Trump made. Attempting to make the US a progressive socialist country is outrageous. Letting the most populous cities and states determine the course of the nation driving it into the failed model of socialist Europe is outrageous. Opening our borders so we "citizens of the world" can pay for the upkeep of millions of illegal aliens is outrageous.

On this subject. Anyone who has spent anytime around California at all will realize the big picture lie that these liberals are feeding us.
The high end liberals with their mansions and Mercedes have absolutely no use for the unwashed masses in THEIR neighborhoods. Local law enforcement will treat anyone who doesn't belong there like dogs and have absolutely no compunctions about using any means fair or foul..violent or non violent, to keep them out. I assure you the liberals pay only lip service to those they pretend to fight for. The size of that,lie is something I would love to see exposed in the movies and on television..
Of course considering who controls those mediums it is an unlikely prospect.

As for blinding smoke, what has YOUR last president done for hope, change and unity? Obama's home town is statistically compared to active war zones (think LIC). Then there is that Syrian DISASTER which caused the greatest migration of people since WW2. A presidential intervention could have stopped the crime which is rampaging across Europe. Then the Obamacare disaster charging ever more money to its customers for ever decreasing service. The idea of affordable healthcare was not the reality. Everyone would approve of the concept if it just executed on the promise "AFFORDABLE CARE"

They politics have been working is that liberals are concerned with their own safety, freedom and enrichment by using race bating divisive politics to segregate groups and win.

We tend to focus so much on the opposition party that we forget our own party of choice looks and acts similar to the ones we despise.

If you are going to build a wall and make it political and geographically correct it would have turn left at the California Arizona border, move North to the Oregon Border and then turn left and end at the Pacific…I won't getting into the politics here, I don't discuss politics with fellow service members.
