Did you hear the Oregon Sheriff was declining to release the shooter's name?

I think the Oregon sheriff, John Hanlin is taking the right approach not releasing the name of the shooter. The media should follow suit. Sheriff Hanlin is being criticized for taking this approach, but I think he is doing the right thing. Many shooters are mentally disturbed and or looking for recognition through committing these shootings. It's a form of delayed gratification either way, whether they are captured or killed. We need to look at society's reaction these types of murders. The way the media publicizes these incidents encourages others to commit the same crime. They're sending the wrong message, the message they are sending is: If you want to be famous, if you want to feel important, powerful, and in control, commit an outrageous act.

We have laws that prevent criminals from capitalizing from their crimes. These nut cases who want headlines are getting the attention (reward) they crave by plastering their names everywhere. I am with the Sheriff on this 100%.

Criminals must not/never be glamorized and this is why it is imperative for the media to undertake a different approach to crime reporting.

CPT (Join to see) I don't think we should EVER release the shooters name as a matter of policy. It just reinforces the desire to create a SICK sense of immortality.

There are some shooters that want a “suicide by cop” so their children and spouse can draw the insurance
Money... I don’t know if policies are being redone because of this idea...! Maybe if they did do it . Underline in red and make it in bold print(bigger than what the policy is printed in). It be in the exclusionary section .. maybe be the check would be reduced by a %tage if it was a ‘suicide by cop’... or maybe a homeowner protect’g their property
(a Guard protect’g Company property Would be same as ‘suicide by cop’)..
