(Yes, I did the DID YOU KNOW thing on purpose.)

No matter how many times it comes up in disagreements about flags and burning and desecration and new flags, etc etc, there always seems to be someone that STILL thinks that the Flag Code "law" that makes flag burning or desecration illegal is still in effect. It's not.

FLAG BURNING OR DESECRATION IS COMPLETELY LEGAL AND PROTECTED BY THE CONSTITUTION. I hope this clears that up.

(My apologies to RallyPoint for reducing the number of comments by about half with this public service announcement.)

Yes I know its legal. Are the people doing it trying to be assholes? Yes. Does it piss me off? Yes
However it is their right to do so, and by giving them no reaction we are not giving them the reaction they want. They want attention to draw to their cause, don't give it to them. Ignore them.
We all swore to protect and defend the constitution. The Flag may be a symbol of this country, however the constitution protects people to say and do things we find offensive as long as no ones property, or person are injured.

MAJ Bryan Zeski I knew the law, but I still find the act morally reprehensible. I would try to stop a flag burning, but I would not go so far as to physically assault someone.
