Did you watch Trump's first address to Congress? What grade would you give him?

A couple of things I noted, paraphrasing is mine:

1. 'It's not my job to represent the world. It's my job to represent the United States'.
2. While speaking about congress coming together to work, he gestured at the few democrats who (rudely, if you ask me) refused to ever stand for applause. Paul Ryan and Pence both were trying mighty hard to not smile.
3. UN money from other nations is increasing.
4. I found his overall tone was much more muted, and his rhetoric was subdued. Instead he just addressed the issues.
5. Notably, he did not attack the press. I hope this continues -- he's put them firmly in place, and the pendulum can swing the other direction if he pushes it. Good to see that he's not.
6. 1 trillion for infrastructure? Yes, please.

Finally, I think he's learning. He's laid off the rhetoric, tonight he informed the country, rather than tried to win more followers -- which I think is a big driver of his past behavior. All in all, I found good reason to have hope about the future, from this speech.

President Trump was more optimistic and unifying in this speech.
I am sure the MSM will trash it, that is what they do.
I find the Democratic response to be odd and make charges that are out of tune.

I didn't watch it. But it sounds like he was better refrained and a bit more professional, which is good. Because he can be a pompous ass many times, BUT I will say this, that during the campaign he seemed to always be more professional in speaking when he was interviewed on CBS Face the Nation than at townhalls or other stations.

I am not a Trump fan.....but credit where credit is due. This was the most "Presidential" he has looked to date. He stayed on message and delivered a good speech. But I do wonder.....when he says he's going to increase defense spending by record amounts, and devote massive funding to our infrastructure projects (both of which sounds good to me), how is he going to deliver, when he also says he's going to give everyone massive tax cuts? His math might be a little "fuzzy".......and it was a bit ironic when he said the frivolous fights need to stop.......this from the man who is in a declared war with the press, hitting them with tweets at three in the morning and barring some of them from press conferences. Let's see if that nonsense finally stops.

Well he made an attempt, we'll see how long the calmness will last. The press even said he was the most level they have ever seen.
Next step leave twitter alone.
But I'm afraid he will tweet the Democrats lack of applause. They did stand and applause every mention of GIs and veterans.
I would give it a solid C- at best.

I can remember each of President Obamas state of the unions where he attacked the Supreme Court Justice and Republicans. Of course that was proper as he earned the Global Peace price and parted the seas.

The speech he gave would be a D- and when he was talking to the Navy seals wife which I found that early in day or when ever he was saying it was Obama fault then saying that he the seal got a lot of information which again I lie I heard this morning republicans saying it was lie too so go show how much he can't be trusted he lies constanly .

I give him an A- , no make it an A . He did a very good job tonight while looking presidential. I think most Dems would have to agree that he Trump spoke very well . I happened to watch CNN and they spoke very highly of Trump's speech .

I had to listen to it on Siriusxm in my car. So I saw none of the democrat shenanigans of sitting on their hands and some of the visuals were lost.

Chris Wallace is no Trump Fan and I think he summed it up pretty well.

“Thirty-six years ago, Ronald Reagan reinvented the speech to the joint session of Congress address,” Wallace said. “He was the one who introduced the idea of having people in the gallery and creating not just a programmatic message but a deeply emotional message. I think Donald Trump reinvented it again tonight, 36 years later. I thought it was by far the best speech I’ve ever heard Donald Trump give. It was one of the best speeches in that setting that I’ve heard any president give. He certainly kept faith with his base. There were two extraordinary moments. One was when he said we are going to repeal and replace Obamacare and you just felt a guttural roar from the Republican side of the aisle. They’ve been waiting seven years and for the first time tonight, a president said that to a session of Congress.”

The left will hate it because it sounded like an American speech delivered by an American President to Americans not some sort of globalist swill we were used to hearing from BHO. Trump delivered that right to the American people much like a really, really, really long tweet. It sailed right by the democrats, the media and right to American's ears.

I would give him an A personal. I liked his message and how it was presented. I am glad he did not use the address for petty rivalry's with the Press or the Dems, he stayed on topic and showed true class.

Some interesting things I noticed that hammered home how idiotic the left wing are. The Dems not clapping... who cares that's their right. Them not standing or addressing a Seals Widow... that's just rude and heartless. She isn't their just representing her Husband she represents all the Wives, Mothers, Sons, Daughters, Fathers, Brothers and Sisters of our fallen Brothers and Sisters.

I find it fitting they all wore white just needed to add a hood. looked like they were all going to head out to a cross burning afterwards. The democrat party was started by racists they have just traded the Plantation for the Welfare Office. They have traded Chains for free crap they are chained too.

I have several Liberal friend on my Facebook feed. I watched as they had a melt down during Trumps speech in real time. Their issues... He used a Teleprompter, followed by He stopped using the teleprompter... He said "Radical Islamic Terrorist." "How dare he want to invest in women's health" "Pence and Ryan are wearing the same tie" (I am not joking that was a huge issue to one leftist I know.) he said "Make America Great Again" ....

You cant reason with the left they just aren't sane. They don't know why they hate Trump other than they have been told to hate Trump. So they grasp at any and every straw and try to turn it in to a club. Conway's feet on the couch, Baron looking out a window, Trump putting ketchup on his steak... ok that last one is wrong and I once dumped a girl for doing it but still not National news or impeachment material. America has real problems and real issues, I challenge the left to come up with solutions instead of naysaying everyone that's trying to fix the mess the last 3 Administrations have gotten us into.

How about reporting some of the positive things Trump has done in the 40 days he has been in office.. Naa that would be integrity in journalism wouldn't it...

I give President Trump's address an "A" he covered the issues and laid out his plan for a united America to take care of America first. He overall didn't acknowledge the rude and disrespectful democrats. They're like spoiled children that didn't win the game.

There was a stark contrast in speaking which I noticed between Trump and obama. Trump doesn't use personal pronouns, but preferred We, Our, Yours, etc. BO was all about ME and I.
