My Mother was almost paralyzed with fear and typical maternal emotion, though my preacher Dad was basically okay with whole idea. They were both Air Force vets. My Grandparents were Army Vets. I have uncles from Army &amp; Navy.<br /><br />I received 100% support in all regards. My brother joined the Navy a year before I joined the Army. I joined as an MP with plan of one term and done. Well, that didn't go as originally planned. I loved what I was doing, still do and I plan to continue for many years to come. No no no no no no no. Absolutely not. But my brothers and dad did. They wish they could join me even but medical problems got the best of them sadly. Lol. Just joining was an uphill battle in itself with them. They didn't want to hear it, or try to understand. Not supportive during either. I still sometimes hear about it. How they suffered while I was deployed. Pretty crazy if you ask me. <br /><br />But at least out of it all I learned to be supportive of my kids when they say that they want to sign the dotted line. Did my dad support me? Well sort of. It was an unwritten rule in the Howell household that you do your time in the military. I am only a 4th generation American and every male since since we left Wales has been in the military at some point in their lives. It was ok for me to go reserves but not active and he would not sign for me ( I was 17) I said hell I will be 18 in six months either way I'm going. He signed right away.
