I've always wanted to learn some welding skills to augment my civilian career. According to my recruiter, very very few 91Es are every needed in Ohio.
Are there any other MOSs that learn any basic welding skills? Mechanics, repairers or construction? Do any MOSs learn to weld besides 91e? Mechanics, repairers or construction? 2019-04-28T14:25:34-04:00 Private RallyPoint Member 4587366

I'm in the process of joining the Ohio army guard. Of course there is also a month of Electrical, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, and other nautical subjects as well. He has learned a lot about welding, and during slower times at the unit so have I.

We call it cross training, see if you can work with them a bit and learn the skills that are necessary for wielding, just because you didn't go to AIT or sign a contract for it doesn't mean you're not allowed to learn it. There is arc, tig, mig just to name a few. Learning is easy, getting good is the hard part. Pratice, pratice and more pratice. You can buy a cheap welder and learn on your own. Just get some scrap metal and stay. YouTube is a good place to start watching to learn how too.
