An ‘almost-son-in-law’ is curious about his grandfather’s Naval Avaition service.

Not an expert, appears the Man was a Naval Aviator in 1919. Also looks like the draft registration card.

Might check out the Navy museum next to Dahlgren (VA). They might have suggestions.

Given the dates involved, I'd seriously look into it...It's possible his grandfather was among some of the pioneers of naval aviation; perhaps even a squadron mate of some of the famous "Millionaires' Squadron" from late WWI. A good place to contact would be the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida...they have quite a bit of info on early naval aviation.

Ancestry [dot] com is a really good place to research this sort of thing. There a lots of folks on there doing similar work.

Thank you my friend CSM Charles Hayden for posting - That is an interesting question.
Together we served may be a consideration. LTC Stephen C. and I are both members. I am limited to posting on the Army side though.
