Do army mos’s transfer to marines?

I’m currently in the thinking of transferring to the marine corps and I was wondering if apart from having to do Boot camp again and losing rank would I have to go to infantry school again to become Qui aligned as a mortar man again?

Yes you have to take the Marine training when you go Army to Marines. The rank, unit structure, tactics and movement are slightly different plus you have all the amphibious stuff and learn Navy terms. I even think some of the qualifications are different. Aren't Marines tested on swimming in their school? Not sure on that.

I know some support MOS schools are shared by the army and Marines, but as others have stated, the Marines will make you go thru their boot camp no matter what your MOS is.

Another alternative to joining the Marines is a Field Grade Article 15. That will also reduce your rank and give you extra duty.

You'll have to complete boot camp and whatever MOS school you're going to. The Corps really doesn't give a damn what you learned in the Army. You'll need to learn to do it our way.

If you’re in college, talk to a Marine Officer Selection Officer. Might as well go into the Corps as an O-1 instead of an E-2.

Yes and no.
Sometimes Mos will transfer and sometimes it will NOT depending on MOS School. Your years of military service will.

All of the prior service Army I served with had to go through all entry level training like everyone else to include MOS training. Good luck

I don’t think it will transfer over. If SOI was a joint service school, it probably would but Marines don’t go to Benning infantry school and Soldiers don’t go to SOI.

Do you know the difference to the Marines between a civilian recruit and an Army soldier? There is no difference and is a reality you should grasp.

I've seen plenty of Marines switch over to the Army or Army Guard, haven't seen too much of the reverse. I would talk with a Marine Recruiter and Career Counselor to gather all of the information needed.

The Marines that transferred to Army went from 0311 to 11B and didn't have to do to much additional training as I understand it. Don't know how the Marines will do it though.

As a career Recruiter who started in the Army and switched to AF, I CAN tell you that there is "a list" of skill conversions that can be used. Many Army and Marine MOSs have direct equivalents (while some do not), but it's in the interest of the gaining component to insure that basic knowledge and skills convert - otherwise, further technical training would most probably be required. The outlook is SOMEWHAT the same for basic training. Most components would, frankly, rather spare the expense of repeating schooling in basic military concepts and skills.

Marines train at Ft. Sill. The weapons systems are the same. But the expectations are not. If you like the bennies, sleep, hot chow, new gear, stay right where you are! As an E-4. You would be expected to handle every job in the FDC, from radio operator to FDO. If you have any doubts, then listen to LTC Jason Miller. (also we don't give medals and badges for knowing your MOS or graduating boot camp) You do however, get a life time membership into the most exclusive club in the world.
