Do Army MPs get a badge number?

I was thinking and I was wondering if MP’s get some kind of badge number like their civilian counterparts

A badge number is the serial number on a piece of equipment, not a police identification number. It's like asking if your S1 gets a printer number

All of the badges in AF Security Forces had badge number. Mine was K2554. We often remarked that a true SP would know his badge number, and the grossly gung ho among us would probably try to work it into a post briefing, like the serial number on their service weapon.

Is was just a randomly generated number imprinted at the bottom of the shield, and never meant anything. I'm certain I wasn't the only K2554. Didn't stop me from knowing it, though.

5 years as a MO. No badge never was ever assigned to me.

There is a credential number on the optional law enforcement credential. That's the closest thing I can think of.

No. Back when the MP's routinely wore the MP Badge, they had a serial number for accountability; but it was not a "badge number" for identification like some civilian PD's do.

When I was assigned to the Defense Nuclear Agency in '83 my badge number was D0001, kinda cool. I don't know what they do now.

Most civilian police departments don't give badge numbers. A few like LAPD, NYC, and MPD (Metropolitan Police Department... the DC police) use them, but many don't. They have credential numbers on their IDs, so a lot like out DOD ID numbers.

Army MP’s don’t even get issued badges if recall correctly. Air Force security forces get badges with badge numbers issued to them.

Army MP’s used to get badges back in the old days in the 80’s in my unit They were kept in the arms room with weapons that you needed a weapons card to get. Numbers were engraved and different from post to post.

Only time you will even get a badge now is if A. you get MPI or B. you switch from MP to CID.
