They train hard, but they play hard, too. Those were some of my favorite years in the Army.Response by CW3 Chuck Eastman made Sep 15 at 2021 1:08 PM2021-09-15T13:08:41-04:002021-09-15T13:08:41-04:00SSgt Christophe Murphy7271795<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Depends. I am sure there are Rangers past and present who did and I am also sure there are some who didn't. A lot of that depends on the individual. The high military divorce rates will show you that there are plenty of Military folks across the board who struggle to meet a balance between work and life.Response by SSgt Christophe Murphy made Sep 15 at 2021 3:34 PM2021-09-15T15:34:03-04:002021-09-15T15:34:03-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member7271814<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>There's a training cycle. You rotate through readiness statuses where you train a few months, deploy or are on standby a dfew months, then chill a few monthsResponse by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 15 at 2021 3:43 PM2021-09-15T15:43:55-04:002021-09-15T15:43:55-04:00SFC Casey O'Mally7273630<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Being a stickler for words, the answer is yes. *EVERY* job has a work/life balance. Some jobs the balance is 99/1, others it is 1/99. Most fall somewhere in between.<br /><br />Your question is not do they have a balance, but rather, *what* is that balance? Even asking do they have a *good* balance is incorrect, because each person defines "good" differently.<br /><br />Personally, my ideal balance is about 90/10. I have no hobbies, don't like people, and am a workaholic. Very few jobs offer me my ideal. So I default to my *second-best* which is about 30/70 and I spend most of the 70 as a hermit. But I can make anything work - as can most people, if they really try.Response by SFC Casey O'Mally made Sep 16 at 2021 8:24 AM2021-09-16T08:24:20-04:002021-09-16T08:24:20-04:00SGM Bill Frazer7274081<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>There are cycles, training, mission, support. But depending on the call, they can be changed in an instant. When you are the tip of the spear, life gets interesting. Rangers go get burn out, and will often transfer back into a regular type unit.Response by SGM Bill Frazer made Sep 16 at 2021 11:07 AM2021-09-16T11:07:34-04:002021-09-16T11:07:34-04:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member7280035<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Nope. <br />Carry on.Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 18 at 2021 1:47 PM2021-09-18T13:47:19-04:002021-09-18T13:47:19-04:002021-09-15T13:01:38-04:00
