In 17 years, as both and enlisted and Warrant Officer, I only wore military uniform to certain schools and at times during deployments. My day-to-day uniform was civilian clothes, consisting of a suit and tie. In a few minutes 4 people in street clothes come in, it was only when the guy in handcuffs that I realized which one was the prisoner, but the CID guys were nice enough to wear their badges on a neck chain...met those same guys multiple times in my year in Korea. Never ever saw them in uniform, but had two guys in a college course that rarely spoke who wore “us” on both collars and no other devices, including no patches or name tags...
