Do Civil Affairs teams have dog teams like other special operations units?

I was looking into the different special operations units and 38B was interesting to me as well as Ranger Regiment. I'm aware they're two fairly different missions. Anyways when reading about 38B I noticed a lot of people talk about being sent to a lot of schools which made me wonder do Civil Affairs teams have dog teams like other special operations units? I'm well aware of the psychology of a 5 meter target however I don't want to be in a boat where I failed to prepare. But yes does anyone know if they have dog teams?

No we do not have our own dog teams, and rarely have need for them. I personally however have created a program in a European country where we brought in our Bn vet to teach the local police dog handlers some better first aid for their canines, while my medic also taught them how to treat human wounds like we do in the US. Very successful program, lot of fun, greatly improved the abilities of the Kosovo Police and Kosovo Security Force dog teams.

but yes...schools galore. Its only a 4 person team so we need to be pretty broadly trained and able to survive on our own.

No dog teams in a CA unit that I've ever heard of, but I have supported dog handling mission in support of partner nation capabilities building.

As a former Civil Affairs Sergeant, we always embedded with the maneuver units. That being said USACAPOC doesn't have k9's or dog handlers. That is as of 2016 when I retired..

31K is the MOS you want for dog handler. You'll work where you are needed with a variety of different units in DoD and other agencies. You'll need to have a good psych profile and no history of animal abuse. And the canine will outrank you to avoid mistreatment. Yes, 31K is entirely different from 38B and no 31K are on the MTOE of any Army active, reserve, or NG civil affairs team. But there are 31K in the Ranger Regiment. So sign up for 31K with and airborne contract, get your ruck on and maybe...you find your way into Regiment.

No K-9’s
