Being that I was a Corporal I can say with a resounding no way. Once I got my stripes the excuse that I was just a E-4 went out the window.

A Corporal is an NCO, and thus part of "the Man" who keeps the mafia down.

Our CSM said that CPL's are junior Non-Commissioned Officers, which is true, and they need to separate themselves from the lower enlisted. This alone means they're no longer in the Mafia. They went from being a Capo amongst their families, to being a rat

Let's just say, we make it happen.
If you need somthing, it will fall out of the sky. If you a NCO or Officer is coming down to hard on you, then heat can all of a sudden be on him, No matter what the rank. If Top needs gone, he is gone. If you get in trouble and that needs to disapear, it's gone. How?????
We run everything!!!! Supply, training, Opperations, the Mess hall, the Gym, Battalion, the Motorpool, the Sickcall, Finance, Clothing and Sales............
Every office has a Clerk, Assistant, somthing. Might just be our job assignment. We drink together, do PT, sit in training together, play poker, go fishing, play golf, fix eachother cars.
E4's work off of favors and who has who's back. The sooner a Squad Leader, Platoon Sargent, First Sargent, Commander and or everything in between that isn't "in" figures that out the better for them. Rely on your Specialists and take care of them, they will take care of you. A lot of good men have tried to go against them or push around a couple and they didn't make it to retirement. Just saying, somthing I heard.
