My wife is getting spinal surgery and I’m trying to take leave to help her recover and to be there for the surgery I did just take leave during a 3 day Feild op to move her back to Michigan for the surgery and a consultation and they denied my leave to go to the actual surgery because of an upcoming Feild op in 29 palms do I have any options?

If the Marines operate like the Army for Leave, you may have very little recourse for the leave being denied. The Commander can deny your leave based on mission. Does your NCOs and Commander know that your wife is having spinal surgery and will need you there during her recuperation?

Yes they Do know everything I talked with them and the simply told me that since I missed the 3 day op I have to go to this one and that the surgery is not major enough even though it is a pretty major surgery from what the doctor told me

Cpl (Join to see) - Does she have family in Michigan? I ask this because this could be the one recourse to get you to take leave. If she has NO family there to assist her in her post surgery care....then get the surgeon to write a memo stating that there is no one available other than you to assist her in her post surgical care and that is it critical for her recovery for you to be there with her post surgery. I'm not saying this is a 100% chance you'll get leave granted, but it would be an extra bullet for your case.

Who is they and how does "they's" boss feel about it? Stick to enlisted chain until zeros get involved. Unless the firex is for cert. and/or it puts you in the hole on leave, I'd certainly grant it if the mission allowed it. Don't forget Navy/USMC Relief if you need help with travel $. Avoid advance pay if you can. Good luck to you both.

Cpl (Join to see) - Ask MSgt for permission for you and him to discuss with 1stSgt. That outcome is uncertain. Only other option is Request Mast, starting with Lt. Then it can be tricky. Your past record comes in play. You need to know the critical nature of you being there first. They may know more about op i.e. Regt. CAX vs. Battery Shoot etc. Not knowing your MOS it's a guess from here. Maybe they are covering needs of USMC, and you're not aware. Find out.
