Do I have any options to receive a commission?

I am 30 with almost 10 years of service all active. I have my Bachelor's and I am married with 2 children. No blemishes on my record and stellar NCOER's. Does anyone know of any programs out there? I qualify for OCS due to having over 8 years of active federal service.

Have you considered applying for OCS?

he age cut off is 33 (must be commissioned by 34).

It's going to be hard to get commissioned Active via OCS for a while. With the drawdown the number of slots for ROTC and West Point are being cut and OCS is being slashed.

Also retention rates for current LTs and CPTs could be forced as low as 50%.

Unless you are willing to go for a reserve commission you may be out of luck unless you plan on going to school to get a direct commission in a special field.

92A is harder than the average MOS to get promoted in, and with the drawdown, your MOS will be affected. I can see why you may be looking for other options.

Being a Recruiter (doing a Broadening Assignment) is looked at very favorably for the SFC board. You are probably doing what you need to do to continue to make yourself competitive within the NCO realm.

If you really want to cross over, your best bet is to ensure you get into an SSA immediately coming out of Recruiting and spend 24 months doing that. Then re-apply for Warrant.

There are essentially five options in obtaining a commission as a military officer, prerequisites include a four year degree from an accreditted college or university and meeting the medical requirements:

1-Service Colleges/Military Academies--i.e. USMA-West Point
2-Officer Candidate School
3-Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC)
--This includes Green-to-Gold and ROTC Scholarships
4-Direct Commission-Professional Degree and more than likely you will need to provide adequate documentation such as your past history as a Medical Doctor, Pastor/Priest, Dental Practice, etc. (This is were people enter at typically higher rank than second lieutenants based on their qualifications and tenure in their respective fields).
5-National Guard/Reserve---State Level Options for OCS, ROTC--includes the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) which is a combination of Drill with your unit while maintaining your ROTC training on campus.

Hope this helps, sometimes there could be some combinations that lead to Active duty from the National Guard/Reserve components, however if you have questions, let me know.

It'd help to know more, if you can elaborate at all...what major, grades, GPAs, assocs, any masters stuff yet, what branch you'd want it Army, what other svcs you'd looked at, what fields in any of them, any flight interests, hobbies, interests, sports, esp martial arts if any...also, would you wanna try for warrant at all, whether flight, cyber, or try for a direct-commission spot, whether Army, say cyber, or some other field...the more you can elaborate, honest, the more I've seen I and others can suggest, honest...give us a good deal more, if you can no rush, whenever you'd want, OK? The site here isn't all-inclusive, however, the forums are quite useful....

And you could also try an ROTC or USMC platoon leaders course (PLC) for grad school, as well, I've seen stuff on here about that...obv, it'd depend if you'd wanna go intersvc, of course, certainly...I have other thoughts, though I'd need to know more to make any more coherent suggestions, as I'd said, honest....
