Separation pay doesn't require you to still be in. The whole point is that you are being separated. You need to talk to your finance folks and admin folks to get a better grasp of everything happening. Now is the time to ask questions to those in the system
https://militarypay.defense.gov/Benefits/Separation-Pay/

However, hit up SFC Jason Boyd. He can provide the best information. https://www.rallypoint.com/profiles/148812-79s-career-counselor-usaraf-hq-usaraf-setaf

You get orders, and while clearing Finance- you get your briefing and told what pay and when it will come. All done at your current stationResponse by SGM Bill Frazer made Jan 26 at 2022 10:08 PM2022-01-26T22:08:43-05:002022-01-26T22:08:43-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member7503836

If you are eligible for Separation pay, you must agree to three years in the Reserve Component. Those can be met with an IRR contract.

But I should point out that the RCP for a promotable SPC is 10 years, not eight. You also have to extend to within 30 days of your RCP, and not be flagged at the time of your separation.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 30 at 2022 7:30 AM2022-01-30T07:30:39-05:002022-01-30T07:30:39-05:00SGT John Ball7752837

You will incur a three year obligation in the USAR/ NG for accepting separation pay.
