Do I have to return my all gear while transferring from Enlisted Army Reserve to active duty Army Officer?

I am hearing two different things. I just want to make sure if i have to return my army gears or i keep it for officer school? I am transfering from enlisted army reserve to active duty officer.

If by gear you mean whatever the equivalent of TA50 is today, the answer will be yes. The school will re-issue it to you when you go, then you will turn that in at the end of OCS and it will be re-issue at your BOLC. So anything on your hand receipt from the unit they will want back every time you move.

It varies depending on the items. Some are transferable and some are not. You'll need to confirm with your unit supply NCO or S4.

You will have to return all of your OCIE. You will have to get a new draw.

You'll have to turn it all in. Going from Active to guard I turned in all my gear at the same place I signed for it all a month later.

Let your unit supply folks guide you. You are being discharged from your Reserve Unit, so those rules apply. In general, all accountable, non-expendable gear should be returned to supply. Expendable items are usually not returned. Unit equipment definitely should be returned. Also, anything you were issued on a hand receipt will need to be returned and the supply account cleared before you are discharged. Any exceptions should be spelled out in your PCS orders.

You keep all uniforms and basic training issued items.

But you return all of the unit specific issued items like flak, Kevlar, pack, etc.
Those items are issued by your command

After I made E7 I never drew CIF because I bought my own. Saved hours and hours when clearing post. If I could have bought a Bradley I would have done that too.

I bought all new gear and turn it in. My old stuff is squared away and ready for action every Marine Corp day.
As I drink coffee from my former active duty canteen cup, I can still hear the wind in the Pine trees and remember the camp fire as the day begins. Thinking what I was going to accomplish.
Here I am, drinking coffee from my canteen cup thinking of how to move forward.

Remember that your gear belongs to your unit and not to you. You have to turn it all it when you are reassigned to another unit or another status - like going from reserve enlisted to active officer.
