Do I have to wear a PT belt with my PT's inside a civilian gym after duty hours (before I go home.)

If the local command has mandated it as part of the uniform, then yes.
Otherwise, no. It is not an organic part of the APFU.
If it was me, I'd wear civilian workout gear in the civilian gym.

That's just a demonstration of how far removed you are from the plight of the modern-day private, 1SG. How else is one supposed to look super hooah and pick up chicks (or dudes), other than by wearing PTs in off-post establishments? The PT belt is an added touch to really shine and bring out how badass you are - heck, you might even get a discount on gym membership with how impressed the gym staff is by demonstrating your commitment to safety.

Mature enough to sign the enlistment contract.
Intelligent enough to take the Oath-of-Enlistment
But we think they are too stupid to cross the street without looking both ways.
Another example of how we are infantilizing our junior troops.

No you do not. But when you walk out to the car if its at night then you need to have it on.. Its also been proven that PT belts help you lift more weight!...... IN the end if your unit says its part of the uniform then I would have it on when I left the gym but not while I was in the gym working out. Even if I was on base I would not have it on if I was in the gym working out.

If you have to wear it diagonally (if that is the SOP) then it's actually a safety hazard in the gym. If it's a civilian gym, then there may be another policy of wearing uniforms off-post (I'm in Germany and there is) so make sure you're not violating something else. I would wear civilian exercise gear regardless. Funny about the PT belt helping you lift more weight!!!
