Do i need a DD 368 to get out of the National Guard (I want to go active) if I haven't been to basic? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/do-i-need-a-dd-368-to-get-out-of-the-national-guard-i-want-to-go-active-if-i-haven-t-been-to-basic <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I&#39;m currently in RSP in the TN Army National Guard. I submitted a DD 368 to get out as I want to go active. I was told that since I haven&#39;t been to basic, I&#39;m not a soldier or officially a part of the guard yet. Therefore, I would only need to contact my recruiter and or my readiness NCO/ COC and let them know and a DD 368 wasn&#39;t necessary. I was told I would be counted as a dep/RSP loss and the guard COC wouldn&#39;t initially tell me that as they don&#39;t want to lose a contract. Does anyone know if this is correct? You have a &quot;spot held&quot; for you at basic training and one pending for you at your MOS school. The first swearing in and contract signing mean absolutely nothing. You do not need any paperwork whatsoever. You have gone through no official training. You simply talk to your AD recruiter and he in turn talks to your NG recruiter and that is pretty much it. You may have to go back to MEPS to redo your contract to reflect the component change but that should be about it. Then you will simply wait to ship to BCT and your final visit to MEPS where you swear in for real and sign the dotted line. SSG Brian G. Your active Army Recruiter should be helping you with this. Each State is different on there requirements on whether they will release you or not. If TN does grant this then you will go back to MEPS. You won&#39;t have to redo the entire physical (provided it&#39;s less then 2 years ago), just Ht Wt and you won&#39;t have to redo ASVAB but you will have to sit with the Guidance Counselor just like you did with the Guard. You would be considered whats called a Glossary Non Prior Service (GNPS). GNPS have there own section in the AR 601-210. You can look it up there on requirements CSM Tim Bebus Tue, 02 Mar 2021 23:33:05 -0500 2021-03-02T23:33:05-05:00 2021-03-01T15:33:48-05:00
