Do I need a GOVCC to be activated to title 32?

My National Guard unit is going to be activated to help assist with the Covid response but I don’t have a GOVCC will this prevent me from being able to activate? I heard but I’m not entirely sure if it’s true that if I start the process of getting it I may still be able to activate. Any info is appreciated as I’m really looking forward to helping my community.

Your chain of command is the best to answer this. If they are going to put you on TDY orders, like to live in a hotel at the mission location, you’ll need to use a GOVCC and file a DTS voucher.

You can be activated and deployed without a GVTCC. I had a Soldier with me in Honduras that didn't have one. All of the alternate paperwork to pay for travel and expenses was a massive pain in the ass, but it can be done. However, that was for Reserves and going overseas. Hit up your CoC as they will best be able to answer this one. Moving forward, get a GVTCC so it can/will make things easier for you and your higher echelons.

You will need a DTS account and a GOVCC.
This will not stop them from putting you on orders, but it must be complete before you go anywhere TDY, so get it done now.

No. I am currently on similar orders and don’t yet have a GOVCC.
