Yes you do. I got mine when I deployed to the MFO in 2012.

That was a 9 month deployment.

Yes you do, just no stripes on the lower sleeves

Depends on when he was there. If you received the GWAT or GWATE you can wear the stripes on the lower sleeve.

3: IAW AR 614-30, Soldiers who serve a minimum of 11 cumulative months (within a 24 month period) or 9 continuous months in a TCS/TDY status may receive overseas tour credit for a completed short tour.
