In Korea, if you go to the movies they play there national anthem and you will get in trouble if you do not stand. Its about respect. If you have a dependant who is non US you should fill them in on respect if they dont know. Being a naturalized citizen myself, I make sure if I am outside I stop what I am doing and pay my respect. When you're a visitor in someone's home or someone's country, you honor them by observing their customs. It's simply genteel. It's simply good etiquette.
