Unfortunately, there were "no MP slots available". I chose "aviation operations" simply because I took aerospace science in high school JROTC.<br />I imagined being on in a crew MOS. Big disappointment.Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 18 at 2014 1:29 AM2014-09-18T01:29:45-04:002014-09-18T01:29:45-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member245908<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Here's my story, when I first went to MEPS, I wanted to enlist as an MP. I was told I could, but I would have to ship out in 3 days to make the school date. I had an apartment, car, pets, stuff to set up; no way I could leave in 3 days. So I picked EOD instead, got to AIT and discovered how LONG it was, too long. I dropped the EOD option and just stayed Ammunition (55B at the time). I did that for 8 years, great job, loved it, can still do it in my sleep. Came time to reup, I wanted to reclass to MP (finally). I got a big, "You can't do that." So I ETS'd instead. Fast forward a year, joined the Reserves, got to reclass to MP and got a 15K bonus! I've been an MP since 2006 and I love it! It's funny though a lot of the positions I've held in the last few years (Provost Sergeant and Range Control NCOIC) have really relied on my Ammo knowledge and I'm glad that I have that MOS also. It seems that both of my MOSs go hand in hand in the positions I've held.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 18 at 2014 3:24 AM2014-09-18T03:24:31-04:002014-09-18T03:24:31-04:00SFC James Rigdon245911<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I initially was a 19D and not a very good one. After 3 years in 5/9 Cav, Schofield Barracks Hawaii, I decided to ETS. After a very long stay as a Civilian I decided to give the Army another try. I went to the MEPS and they said there was no AD slots as a 19D so they reclassed me to 75H. Which I really enjoy. I have met alot of Soldiers and there family's over the last 14 years and I think it was the best decision for me.Response by SFC James Rigdon made Sep 18 at 2014 3:27 AM2014-09-18T03:27:31-04:002014-09-18T03:27:31-04:00SSgt Private RallyPoint Member246017<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I wished I would have originallly went in as a flight engineer/door gunner when I originally joined the Army. I think even EOD or Cavalry scout would have been great. I've found that support (MOS/AFSC/rating) positions usually get little to no respect in any of the services. As for my AFSC in the Air Force I would have loved to have been an aerial gunner on an HH-60 rescue helicopter but I was unable to get that as I was prior service Army.Response by SSgt Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 18 at 2014 8:45 AM2014-09-18T08:45:58-04:002014-09-18T08:45:58-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member4484967<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Should’ve stuck with 19D probably could’ve gotten some better schools than a 31B.
