I wanted that regimental off of my record. I wanted to go other places. I became a Flight Medic and for a couple of years it stayed on the record. I thought I'd be snatched up and sent back to the 9th ID at any time, Finally it fell off. I was very relieved. So for me it wasn't a point of pride, I just wanted to see more of the world. I always took pride in what ever unit I was in. SFC Michael D. Army gives them more Bns than most ever had, even in the pentomic or whatever days. Even the the 75th has gone to re lettering companies in the Bns. I remember in the 199th Inf Bde we had M Co, 3rd Bn 75th Rangers. Prolly now just D Co, 3rd Bn 75th Rangers. Only outfit I was in that did it right was the 6th ACR with troops A through M. There are very few regimental commands in the Army. For example, 3BCT, 82ND, is not the 505th PIR. Since that is the case the BDE commander can't induct anyone as a distinguished member of the regiment. Since there is not a regimental commander it would fall to the 1st Battalion commander. He is in theory the bearer of the regimental colors.
