Do the different branches still use the sponsorship program?

My only shot at it was in 1993 at Camp Courtney, Okinawa and it was a epic failure.

The Army does. It is supposed to be mandator. However, I never had one.

The Army does, and I've seen a big push for it here at Ft. Carson. If a Soldier shows up on our inbound roster (which often times, they do not), they are immediately assigned a sponsor and heads will roll if that sponsor does not reach out before hand, as well as once the Soldier has arrived.

I know the Air Force did back in 2010/2011 time frame. But it was up to the person who was PCSing if they wanted a sponsor.

I (currently) would not be able to get my PCS orders if my sponsor had not been assigned. If Ft Leavenworth is any indication, the Army is taking this pretty seriously now.
