So I'm glad to see some of the lesser used items going away, and more useful items coming into play. While I'd beg to say we don't really need four or even three sets of NWUs issued in boot camp, it's nice to see they're making cuts and adding what's necessary in place of them. I'm glad big Navy is trying to look out for us a little more. My biggest concern is when old uniform items are no longer authorized. I spent a lot of money updating uniforms over the years that are no longer wearable. That isn't as much of a concern for me as an O4, but I know the same thing has happened to many junior enlisted and that price feels like a waste even if the new uniforms are provided (which they aren't always). In 24 years of service I never met one single person who ever had participated in a survey for uniforms, makes one wonder where these decisions come from. That being said, I do not understand why someone always has to mess with perfectly good uniforms. Personally I despised the crackerjack uniform, it was and continues to be Navy tradition, because of those 13 buttons and stupid shoestring tie up on the backside.
