SPC Private RallyPoint Member 8116255

So I went from 6 years reserves to 3 years inactive reserves now enlisted to active reserve. I thought I have 9 years of time in service in the reserves an IRR. But when I went on active duty, now they want to give me only 6 years in service which pretty much lowered the amount of pay I should be getting overall. So does IRR time in service not count when switching to active duty in mypay? How can I prove that IRR counts also as TIS? Thanks in advance! Do years in service in the Reserves and IRR count towards years in service on active duty in terms of pay? 2023-02-03T16:40:37-05:00 SPC Private RallyPoint Member 8116255

So I went from 6 years reserves to 3 years inactive reserves now enlisted to active reserve. I did an enlistment in the Navy and got out to attend college. Now that I have my degree I am joining the Army and going to OCS. I have heard that my IRR time will count towards my pay and read some things on here that say it does. However I also have seen some people say no it doesn’t count. Can anyone clear this up for me? Does anyone know the regulation? Anything will help!

Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 3 at 2023 4:49 PM 2023-02-03T16:49:25-05:00 2023-02-03T16:49:25-05:00 COL Randall C. 8116264

MSG Private RallyPoint Member beat me to the punch.

Yes, it does - unless you have a break in service (you might only have two of the three years counted if they dropped you from the IRR after your eight year service obligation was completed).

DoD 7000.14-R*, Chapter 1, section 2.1.3 (Creditable Service Periods). Unless you signed a three year IRR contract, you have somewhere under two years of IRR time. Your MSO starts on the day you sign your first contract, eight years from there, the DEP time doesn't count.

Your career counselor will help you fix it.
