With all the urgent budget needs, we really don't need to be paying to move agencies into select congressmens districts so they can take credit for bringing jobs home. I thought repubs said federal jobs are bad and should be eliminated. Now he wants to move those jobs all around the country. Total BS.

I don't like the idea of spending money specifically to move them, but I'd support phasing this in over time, as agencies get realigned, or their buildings get replaced, or whatever. It would break up the beltway bubble, and it would make it harder for lobbying groups and special interests to exert influence.

I think it should be a combination of staying and going. If they all leave than the property values in DC will plummet. We would lose money by having govt buildings empty. So, there should be some agencies or part of agencies here in DC. However, in the age of VTCs, there is no reason why we can’t “share the wealth.” If we look at the most depressed areas of the U.S., can you imagine FBI HQ in Detroit? Locality pay would decrease for civil servants (save govt $$) and revitalize the new host city. Why is the Office of Naval Intelligence in Suitland, MD? Why not in the Hampton Roads area? I think it’s a good idea, but would have to be done smart.

Just another example of wasting taxpayers money, Leave them where they are.
