One must be a very fundamental believer in the Bible, as a whole, however, for that occur. My Dad was a minister for sixty-two years before he passed on five years ago. He tried to slip a few last sermons to me in his last days!!! He was a devout believer. I wish I had his faith and belief system. Viet Nam and thirty years of police work has left me with serious questions about all things Biblical. Is it the last days? No one knows. I have a B.A. in religion from the University of Southern Mississippi, and my personal research indicates that Revelations was a very apocalyptic analogy for the Roman Empire. It wasn't intended for literal interpretation thousands of years later, although it is just about every time elections roll around. The Bible does not predict a WWIII specifically, although we may call it that. The point of scripture is to demonstrate the decay of the human race in contrast to the salvific power of the gospel. Since these were put on paper, around 96AD, various world events have been "proclaimed" to be heralding the "end times". However, a careful study of these texts details the fact that a few, unique circumstances have yet to be realized. First, there is the appearance of a leader so powerful, popular, and deceptive...that he manages to "unify" humanity in rebellion against God, and persecution of the faithful. The Caesars, Napoleon, Hitler...even current leaders...have all been listed as "suspects". This "Antichrist" is assisted by the "Beast"-the mark of which is said to be "required" in either the forehead or hand, as a sign of loyalty towards, and entitlement to the society they will usher in. Again, printed currency, credit cards, even the Internet, have all been suspected of being the "Beast". This "new" order of world government is prophesied to lead a horrific persecution of anyone refusing to denounce their faith and follow the Antichrist/Beast, which ultimately leads to the "rapture",i.e. removal of the faithful... and all out war between the combined forces of humanity allied against God and Heaven. Some scholars cite prophecy of battles between allied nations against Israel, and other earthly fighting leading up to "Armageddon"- the climax. In between, are prophecies that allude to the "star Wormwood" falling into the sea and killing a third of all living things (asteroid?)...diseases, war, famine...the ubiquitous "Four Horsemen" riding rampant...basically, earth and nature competing with mankind's own cruelty for body count. In the end, the forces of evil are defeated, and Christ sets up a kingdom on earth spanning one thousand years. What happens next is often debated, but Revelations describes a final judgement followed by an eternity of presence with God, or alternatively, damnation. While some Christians see only metaphor, and some believe these events are past...and we are in the last days of that one thousand year reign of Christ...many, myself included, believe these prophecies describe events yet to come.Response by LCDR Private RallyPoint Member made May 18 at 2016 12:30 PM2016-05-18T12:30:05-04:002016-05-18T12:30:05-04:00CPT Jack Durish1539893

Am I missing something here? The young man asks Jesus what he must do to follow him. Jesus tells him and the man responds "let me bury my father first." Jesus says "no, let the dead bury the dead." Now, if you don't know that "let the dead bury the dead" is a Jewish saying meaning "let me take care of the final harvest, do any repairs on my dad's house, take care of him before I leave" then you're going to be confused. Revelation is not confusing. If so, then you're not reading it correctly.

"But Don, it was written in code to keep the Romans from destroying it."
Really? How come God can protect the other 65 books of the Bible, but not The Revelation? There is no code. The word "fire" means the same in Rev as it does everywhere else in the Bible. God also has strict rules on prophecy and prophets. In order to be a prophet you have to be 100% correct. If not, then you are not a prophet by Biblical standards. So when religion X states that "Jesus is coming on the 6th of August, 1997" and he **DOESN'T** come, then that religion can no longer be listened to, trusted.

There are several prophecies that must be fulfilled before the second coming of Christ. They are all pretty much laid out in The Revelation. The one most military folk will gravitate towards is the resurgance/emergence of a re-united/stronger Germany and pacts made towards its influences with and regarding to Israel. The "Ten Kings" are nations that play heavily into "final battle" scenarios and they are rumored to be Northern European nations. Having an English wife, I (we) have English news running through the house and those of you so inclined may notice an English "Tea Party" style movement wanting to remove England (UK) from the European Union. Germany (as head banker of the EU) is moving towards that as well. Germany wishes for the EU to be split in to two EU's with a Northern EU having ten member nations (there's your "ten kings") and a Southern EU having ten member nations.

Notice that the Holy Roman Empire figures heavily in to The Revelation as well. The EU was (still is) heavily involved with having The Holy See (Vatican) "proof-reading" the still un-ratified EU constitution. Should a national religion for the EU be agreed upon (with the Pope 'conveniently' as it's new head) then that's a fistful of Biblical prophecies fulfilled in one afternoon. The gist of the two EU's is financial. The Northern one will pay less/earn more and it will be like a European soccer league where a nation not taking care of its finances (Greece, Ireland or Portugal) will be "demoted" to the Southern EU. The nations in the Southern EU will still be EU members getting benefits, but less benefits, giving them something to shoot for.

Once this gets ratified/approved, you'll have a ton of Biblical prophecies coming true. Germany has ratified its constitution to enable "combat" in places outside Europe and German forces have blooded themselves accordingly. With the EU's finances and a common goal (the soon to be purging of Muslims from Europe) there might be an acceleration of "armagedon" showing up. Seek out any books by Pastor Tim LaHay. Tim does not preach. Tim takes Biblical prophecies and translates them to your language and shows how they exist. For example, later in The Revelation, God sends two messengers to earth that stir up hatred and they are killed "and everyone throughout the nations can see their dead bodies." Now if you read that passage in 1981, you'd laugh out loud as that is impossible. But once CNN comes online, its now possible for "everyone throughout the nations" to see an event.

But your first step is going to be to get a modern translation Bible that contains background information. "The Student Bible - New International Version" is my recommendation. Its easy reading and interrupts you frequently with insights and historical backgrounds. Its like several books in one.Response by PO3 Donald Murphy made May 19 at 2016 10:08 AM2016-05-19T10:08:24-04:002016-05-19T10:08:24-04:00SCPO Private RallyPoint Member1543547

SSG John Thornton gave the most succinct response to this query.Response by SCPO Private RallyPoint Member made May 19 at 2016 4:08 PM2016-05-19T16:08:26-04:002016-05-19T16:08:26-04:00PFC Donnie Harold Harris3128094

Hide and watch.Response by PFC Donnie Harold Harris made Nov 28 at 2017 7:53 PM2017-11-28T19:53:03-05:002017-11-28T19:53:03-05:002016-05-18T10:19:10-04:00
