It's unrealistic to think that a justice wouldn't have a political view.

It's how the President picks them, and why.

BTW, there is only one Chief Justice.

Everybody has their personal political views, and I could care less if they identify with a party.
What does matter, is if that party affiliation influences they way they rule.
A judge is supposed to rule on the LAW, not make law. A fact that seems to be lost on them!!!

Regardless of political party affiliation, their views will lean one way or the other on the political spectrum. Since we really only have 2 major parties (all others are fairly inconsequential since we're not a parliamentary democracy), its likely that they will fall under one party or the other, but there's multiple specific views under the Republican and Democrat platforms. I don't think past membership or voting affiliation is an issue. It's not the RNC or DNC are giving Supreme Court Justices their approved talking points.

The reason I ask this question is that i believe that a justice should be appointed base on merit, now thats jus me. Capt Johnson made a point that is it is better to know one affiliation than not knowing . Question are the Justices rulings being influenced politically. If not then why are they making it a big deal of it.
