Business models can remain unchanged throughout the life cycle of a company. However, incremental adjustments happen daily in the smallest business environment. Can not change will result in stagnation and frustration.
Will not change is a conscience selection. Will not change has to be directed to subordinates, or initiative will spontaneously occur in the absence of "will not change". The organizations that are destined to fail are the willing and unable, and the able and unwilling. Our professor told us this story.

In the late 1800s, a company made wooden buckets and had virtually cornered the market, making money hand over fist. Right about that time, the metal galvanization process was introduced and companies started making metal buckets. The wooden bucket company went out of business.

What went wrong? Firstly, the company failed to adapt. Secondly, and more importantly, they failed to recognize their business. They were in the business of making vessels to carry water, and not in the business of making wooden buckets.

The answer to your question is, of course, NO. That became my main focus, which was hugely successful by bringing in over 50% more work than other competitors.
The problem I see is how to do you get policy's or organizations to flex quick enough.
One would think that with today's forms of digital communications that process would of already been sped up to the point where this is not a conversation.
But obviously it has not. Innovation is the key to success to any business whether established or not. Cultural issues are typically created as the result of pride. And pride is the number 1 killer of any business. "The day you think you are at your best is the day you became your worst!" I'd rather believe I'm the underdog my whole life.
