When in charge, take charge! With that said, understand that you are the leader and want those under your charge to follow you willingly - out of respect, which means they must understand the mission.....they understand it with engaged leadership (dirty boots), and leaders that take the time to talk with (NOT TO!) the troops!

90% of the time I would welcome any perspective from all NCOs and soldiers. There is that 10% where there is no room for discussion.

I'm Guard so as a manager in my civilian job I do consider other ideas. It helps me reinforce my own thoughts or gives me new perspective and ideas to plan around. As a PV2 I am in charge of... I make coffee in the morning and do what I'm told/volunteer to do lol

Most of the time, yes. There are those time critical situations or higher thou shalt directives that are the exception.
