Do you eat BBQ more often at home (including the homes of friends or other social gatherings) or at restaurants?

I've been working on a BBQ sauce for a few years, and now I may be turning it into a business through a capstone project in my MBA program. I have some questions that I hope some of y'all can help me with.

Grilling and BBQ are two different things to me. I grill almost every night at home but thats not BBQ.

BBQ is homemade sauce, smoking plus all the fixin's. It's an entire category of food. I can't BBQ worth a damn but I can grill!

I live in the BBQ capital of America, as long as you don't want that nasty vinegar stuff they serve in the Carolinas. BBQ can only be done properly low and slow so it requires planning. Even for tailgating at the Chiefs, you have have to prepare ahead of time and then use the grill to reheat. Luckily, not counting the national names that originated in KC such as Gate's and Arthur Bryant's, there are at least 15 mostly hole in the wall joints within an hours drive. When guests come from out of town I take them to the gas station location of KC Joes as much for the ambiance as the food. When my wife and I are going to KC Joes we go to one of the other locations where the food is as good but you don't have to brave an hours wait in the elements.

We eat most of our bbq at home and sometimes at friends or restaurants. Although most of our friends really do grilling and not bbq.

At home. Half of the enjoyment of BBQ is cooking it yourself. After you find the combination you like restaurant BBQ don't rise to the mark.

All in restaurants for me,acquired an insatiable taste for BBQ during my time in the Service,being in the Northeast good places are few and far between,if you are going to put out a superior product,please put me on your mailing list,I would be interested!

unfortunately, there aren't any good rib joints in the my area. The locals think they're good, but nobody comes to Northern Michigan for the ribs. I'm sure someone will have a place, but to be honest If its more than 30 minutes away. I'll do it myself.

I'm a bbq junkie it's in my blood it just like Graf and Hoenfelds dust and mud it's in my system for life.
As long as I have charcoal I bbq in snow rain what ever and it doesn't stay in the house long after its cooked.

I make my own BBQ sauce. Sometimes I will add a little bit of jerk seasoning in it. Just enough to change the taste, but not enough for people to understand what I did.

Sorry on iPhone so multiple posts. Back to the principle of hidden flavors. After serving in the ME I decided to add rose water to lemon bars, just enough to throw people off with that exquisite smell and flavor. Nobody knew what the secret ingredient was.
