Do you enjoy making and/or wearing cosplay?

Well do you? Do you like making your own costumes and showing them off at conventions? Or do you get yours at the store/online?
One of my goals this year is to do at least 5 cosplays at conventions/parties. Might seem like a small goal but I haven't been as active as I'd like to be. Anyways, do you think there should be a cosplay group on here? I know there's more nerds than this in the military.

I'm just curious, but why do people fly off the handle at the term 'cosplay', but don't bat an eye to the guy who goes to the monthly SCA event in armour, or the guy who's a member of the local 501st Imperial Legion garrison, or -heck- even the guy who always has jersey and pads for his favourite football teams? They're all the same bloody thing, but they aren't treated equally.
What makes cosplay 'kiddie' while the rest aren't?

This is a great response, thanks! :) I agree, and I think it's a matter of opinion. Sports are popular, so it's okay to be fanatical about that. I was thinking it would be unfair for you to rank a person lower just because they don't like the same sport as you, right? But for some reason nerd stuff is different, again I guess because it's not as popular.

I have a Deadpool suit that I wore for Halloween with Katanas and the full belt and stuff. But I'm Currently working on a Master Chief suit.

I haven't done it in a long time, but I used to get dressed up as a soldier for years. I'd get back into it, but I can't fit back into it.
