I don't know if mortal men can survive the soup sandwich I am eating.

What do you say about your experiences?

Well sir, my life was pretty good before, so I guess I can express kinship.
Oct 6th, 2014... the day my wife told me she didn't love me anymore. Three weeks earlier I was thrilled to be home from Africa.
It may have been a Fool's Paradise before, but it was one of my making.

Since, a lot of things have happened that have changed my outlook and my goals have had to be revised significantly. But I'll be ok. Eventually this mess will blow over and I'll have more to look forward to. Survival mode until then, though.

The problem is a singular event becomes a Tsunami and wipes you out, then the follow own waves are bigger than they really are because one is vulnerable. 1SG how many kids and what is your vocational expertise besides coordination, planning, and executing. There has to be some folks here that can point you in the right direction.

MAJ Ken Landgren - Exactly what happened with the Tsunami analogy.

I am by vocation a human resources professional, having spent 9 years with the Dept of the Army in that field.
I am superior at reading people and developing talent both individually and in a team setting.
I have had some pretty unique experiences in my travels in the military that show a pretty unique ability to find solutions to intractable problems and innovate in an inflexible bureaucracy.
I could go on... I know I bring a lot to the table, but as you can imagine my focus has been inward for a while now.

MAJ Ken Landgren - Thanks, but that is mighty far away from Minnesota. I can't relocate due to custody issues.

MAJ Ken Landgren When we think we can't take anymore we can reassess by making a list of all the things we are thankful for. There are a lot of things we do and have in our daily lives we take for granted.

This past Thanksgiving my mom asked me what I was thankful for from the past year. Same tradition as has been there for as long as I can remember.
Except this time the answer was nothing.
I just saw red.
Irrational... just fury.
I have never been so angry with her, because she knew the answer and chose to put me on the spot in front of everyone anyway.
I know she was trying to help, but... not smart.

Most of the time I'd say that was great advice, but I can think of times that dealing with what is immediately in front of you is better than viewing the glass as half-full.

1SG (Join to see) - I get it. We keep working toward a new normal when our lives are disrupted. I'm glad your outlook is "I'll be ok. Eventually this mess will blow over and I'll have more to look forward to."

If anything I say the opposite. This life despite the problems has been going ok. My past lives had to have been totally FUBAR. I have dodged some major bullets.

I agree. After 13 years and five deployments (all of which were FUBAR) I don't know honestly how I am still alive or not imprisoned.
